Eseosa Cole

Eseosa Cole was Born June 4th, 1987 in Nigeria.

She attended Benson Idahosa University where she acquired her LLB in law and proceeded to Nigeria law school Abuja where she acquired her LLM and is a certified practising lawyer in Nigeria.

She is a member of FIDA (international female lawyers). She was trained in Kenya as a human right defender by Action Aid.

Her passion for activism and human rights related issues was is a result of her greatest gift which is to empathize. She took up a job as the director for human right and advocacy for access to healthcare and right development initiative where she has been actively involved in fighting for rights of minorities in Nigeria. The minority group consisting of women, children and LGBT persons. She has succeeded in securing several bails for vulnerable community members, instituting actions in courts of competent jurisdiction of Nigeria.

Work:

  1. Eseosa Cole presented a paper on the impact of the SSMPA on West African religious leaders in Togo in March 2018
  2. Eseosa Cole has formed an LGTB focus litigation group in Lagos and is offering a step-down training for her group
  3. Eseosa is working with the Delta State police department to sensitize the police on the dangers of living as a minority in Nigeria and the role of the Nigerian police force
  4. Eseosa Cole was hosted by the Delta State Commissioner of Police and presented with an award of excellent service to the state
  5. Eseosa Cole secured bail for 2 LGBT community members imprisoned in Kirikiri prison in Lagos, Nigeria
  6. Nigerians take to the streets to protest LGBTI killings on May 28th, 2018 National Day of Mourning
